The Spratly Islands are a group of more than 750 reefs, islets, atolls, cays and islands and are located off the coasts of the Philippines and Malaysia. The vast most of the Spratly Islands are uninhabited and have closed military bases. The Spratly Islands are known for its wildlife with many seabirds.

Where To Go

The vast majority of the Spratlys Islands are uninhabited and have closed military bases or limit it to casual visitors. However a few islands have small civilian communities and can be visited by determined travelers.

Things To Do

The most popular things to do on the Spratlys Islands are: visit Layang Layang which is a Swallow Reef controlled by Malaysia and is the only island with regular flights and visiting Kota Kinabalu which is a popular dive resort on the Spratlys Islands.
